YORKSHIRE PRACTICE –overview
Brian Abbott is spearheading the latest Baker McVeigh group of practices based in Old Malton, Yorkshire.
Brian joined the Baker McVeigh group, after a spell of 18 months at Pool House followed by 3 ½ years at the Oakham Veterinary Hospital (Gibson`s.)
Brian then completed two breeding seasons in Ireland and a similar season in Australia prior to emigrating to the Cape and KZN branches of our South African Hospitals.
As a senior associate he was responsible for the daily ambulatory work of our larger racing yards in South Africa.
In 2009, he then expressed an interest in returning to Newmarket to take up a position where he was the stable vet for several clients including Shadwell Stud`s rehabilitation wing at Thetford.
As a keen huntsman the call of Yorkshire has never been far off in his mind.
So in conjunction with the Newmarket partners; John McVeigh, Antony Clements, Duncan Moir and Fernando Perez, Baker McVeigh and Abbott Ltd has been formed.
It is our intention to offer a first line ambulatory practice in parallel to our sister practice in Newmarket.
Worldwide the group now has 27 equine vets.
Brian has a certificate of Equine practice which adds academic edge to his extensive practical experience.
Brian represented Ireland for show jumping at pony level and has ridden in the famous Newmarket Town plate in so doing raising money for charity.
He is a keen rugby player and enjoys social occasions.
We wish him all the best in his new adopted home.
